Anissa Swanzy and her team have combined more than 15 years of design expertise in interior, kitchen and bath design and created a unique design studio that is driven by their exceptional customer-service skills, passion for comfortable, well-organized spaces and belief that professional home design projects don’t have to be overwhelming, expensive or time-consuming.

“We love the creative part of home, kitchen and bath design,” says Kelly Downs, one of the designers at the studio. “Today, people want their homes to be beautiful places that are well-organized and comfortable. A home is your most important investment and it should be a place that you’re proud of and where you can relax and entertain friends and family.”

The team at SKD Studios believes that consumers are better educated today about how they want their homes to look and function and those desires can usually benefit from some redesign or upgrades. That is where the services of a professional designer can be invaluable and, in the long run, save a homeowner time and money.

“We can work within just about any budget,” says Swanzy. “We work with do-it-yourselfers who may be able to do the construction or installation work themselves, but need advice on color and fabric choices, tile and flooring options or how to arrange a kitchen in a way that will maximize the space while keeping the area functional and open. These are all services that are difficult to come by in a typical kitchen design center, but without that coordination up front, obtaining a cohesive look for the project is difficult.”

In addition to the services listed above, SKD Studios also works with local builders and developers to help them streamline their housing projects. Heather Kerig, head of the outside sales and marketing department, is available to assist builders with their selections as well as act as project coordinator for larger commercial projects. SKD Studios can also provide consultations on paint, wallpaper and window treatment choices, as well as in-home fee-based design consultations. They provide shopping services and can coordinate all plumbing, electrical and installation work related to a design project.

“We can help homeowners get the look they want at the price they can afford,” says Swanzy. “And we do that by setting the bar just a little bit higher.”

Principal Partner at SKD STUDIOS

SKD STUDIOS, situated in the Lusby Commons Shopping center on Rousby Hall Road in Lusby Maryland was founded on three simple principals – “A product you will love, on a budget you can afford, in a time frame you can expect” nissa Swanzy was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Maryland 15 years ago with her husband. Anissa, her husband, Don, and their two daughters, Taylor and Blaine have been enjoying life on the Chesapeake Bay ever since.

Growing up on the coast of Southern California has always been the casual coastal style that inspires her designs. Having owned her own interior design business for four years, she began focusing on kitchen and bath design about three years ago. It was then that she decided to combine her love for interior design with her new found passion for kitchen and bath design and create a place that offered both.

“I never understood how kitchen designers could design a space, as important as the kitchen,
and not take into account the rest of the house”. When forming SKD Studios she knew she
wanted to do things differently. “I wanted a studio that home owners could come to and we could
help them create an inviting, livable, amazing space from start to finish.”

Anissa and her team understand the importance of educating their clients
on the products available. “We help them choose the best options for their space as well as cost
effective alternatives to help enhance the way they use their space. We like to think of our studio
as a ‘one stop shop’.” The designers are available to help you not only design a plan but put
together elements such as flooring options, cabinetry selections, tiles, countertops, fabrics, paint
colors, wall coverings and window treatments to help pull off the overall theme.

“We have a very talented eclectic team at SKD STUDIOS. We work together in a collaborative
method. Every project is reviewed by the entire team and usually we all have our hand in the final
design.” Their talented team of designers and detailed installers are available to help you create a
space that not only looks amazing but functions flawlessly. Call the studio at 443-404-5686 or stop by to schedule a complimentary in home measure and let SKD STUDIOS design team create a plan that will fit your budget, look amazing and enhance the way you live in your home.
